Various Types of Drinks By Alcohol Percentage Content –


Alcohol has a history of thousands of years. Humans like to drink alcohol on various occasions. In some cases people seek for the occasions to drink alcohol. Alcohol beverages industry is a multi million dollar industry worldwide and a major source of revenue for governments.

In this article I will tell you about different categories of drinkable alcohol, based on

alcohol percentages in it. So let’s begin:

How to calculate content: 

  1. Measurement 1 – Alcohol by volume (ABV)  = quantity of ml of ethanol / 100 ml in a solution and,

  2. Measurement 2 – Alcohol proof = 2 x % of ABV.

Types of drinkable Alcohol

Beer:


It is the most common form of undistilled alcohol, used to be consumed worldwide

due to least percentages of alcohol.  A standard beer contains around 2 – 4 % ABV of alcohol

while strong beer contains 6 – 8 % ABV of alcohol. 

Wine:


It is another high demanding undistilled alcohol, it has around 10 – 20% of ABV in

different wines.

Champagne is the most famous type of wine. Wine is an alcoholic drink typically made from fermented grapes. Yeast consumes the sugar in the grapes and converts it to ethanol, carbon dioxide and heat.

Tequila:


This drink is mostly famous among youth after beer. Tequila contains ABV of 40%. Tequila  is a distilled beverage made from the blue agave plant, primarily in the area surrounding the city of  Tequila 65 km (40 mi) northwest of Guadalajara, and in the Jaliscan Highlands of the central western Mexican state of  Jalisco.


Vodka:


Vodka also has an ABV of 40% and is preferred to enjoy by youth like Tequila. Vodka is a clear distilled

alcoholic beverage from Europe. Vodka is traditionally drunk “neat” (not mixed with water, ice, or other mixers), and it is often served frozen in the vodka belt of Belarus, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden, and Ukraine. It is also used in cocktails and mixed drinks, such as the vodka martini, Cosmopolitan, vodka tonic, screwdriver, greyhound, Black or White Russian, Moscow mule, Bloody Mary, and Caesar.


Brandy:


It’s a type of distilled wine with ABV % of 35 to 60%. Brandy is also one of the most consumed alcohol

types worldwide. Brandy is a liquor produced by distilling wine. Brandy generally contains 35–60% alcohol by volume (70–120 US proof) and is typically consumed as an after-dinner digestif. Some brandies are aged in wooden casks. Others are coloured with caramel colouring to imitate the effect of aging, and some are produced using a combination of both aging and colouring. Varieties of wine brandy can be found across the winemaking world. Among the most renowned are Cognac and Armagnac from southwestern France.


Whisky:


Whisky is another favorite alcoholic drink with ABV % of 40 – 50% it has a separate

fan base. Brandy is a liquor produced by distilling wine. Brandy generally contains 35–60% alcohol by volume (70–120 US proof) and is typically consumed as an after-dinner digestif. Some brandies are aged in wooden casks. Others are coloured with caramel colouring to imitate the effect of aging, and some are produced using a combination of both aging and coloring. Varieties of wine brandy can be found across the winemaking world. Among the most renowned are Cognac and Armagnac from southwestern France.


Rum:


Rum has a unique quality that its taste will differ depending on where it is made. Rum can have a

maximum ABV of 75.5%. Rum is also used as medicine in colds under direction by Doctors in a

restricted quantity and usages methods prescribed.
